  • Umpires must be a min. of 11 years old at the start of the season to come out for Umpire training.
  • This is a great way to enjoy baseball from a new perspective, improve you understanding of the game, learn leadership skills and earn a few pennies in the process!
  • Umpires will officiate over games that are the division below their current age/skill level


 2010 ASSIGNMENTS:


UMPIRE EXPECTATIONS:

  • To be an Umpire you will need to:
    • Working together as a team (crew)
    • Crews will enforce the playing rules as prescribed by Little League Baseball/Little League Canada fairly and consistently.
    • Individual umpires are responsible for keeping track of their games worked and must report these to the Umpire-in-Chief for payment.
    • Plate Umpire Reports game issues/incidents to the Umpire-in-Chief within 24 hours of the game
    • Assignments are based on appropriate skill/age level and availability
    • Crews are expected to arrive at the game site 30 minutes before game time in appropriate Umpire uniform and required supplies (including plate brush and clicker)
    • There is no guarantee that all Umpires will get the same number of shifts.  We make every attempt to be fair but availability, commitment and ability to cover the shifts that are open will all affect the schedule
  • Dress Code
    • Black/Grey pants
    • Belt - Black
    • Socks - Black
    • Umpire Jersey (supplied by NLDS - $45 deposit  required)
    • Red  T-Shirt under NLDS jersey or black under-armor
    • Umpire Hat for new umpires (supplied by NLDS – for  the umpires to keep)
    • Protective Cup
    • Umpire Gear (helmet, pads) found at the Ball  Diamonds
    • Umpire supply kit – counter, brush, pouch (can  purchase at MVP)
    • Runner (cleats are not required)


 RULES
  • Umpire's are issued a Green Rule Book for all Little League (LL) Rules. For copyright reason's there is no electronic version of the official LL Rule Book
  • 2010 NLDS house rules will be posted here for reference once available.
